PpcSoft iKnow vs. OneNote vs. Evernote
A lot of people have asked us what the main difference between PpcSoft iKnow, MS OneNote and Evernote is.
PpcSoft iKnow is a great tool for many people, but it is obviously not perfect for everyone.
People have different work habits and different needs, and therefore need different tools. Both PpcSoft iKnow, OneNote and Evernote are great tools, but they serve different types of people with different needs.
So, to help you decide which tool is best for you, this is our simplified summary:
| OneNote: | Complex, very powerful, multiple datatypes, collaboration | |
| Evernote: | Data in the cloud, multiple datatypes, multiple platforms | |
| iKnow: | Easy, fast, efficient, connecting notes, data stored locally |
OneNote is a very powerful tool from Microsoft and is part of the Office suite. As expected from the most powerful tool, it is also the most complex. It supports all kinds of data: text, pictures, sounds etc. OneNote is also built for collaboration where multiple users can share and edit the same note. MS OneNote is MS Windows only.
Summary: If you are a power user on the MS Windows platform who want "everything" in your tool, are willing and able to handle the complexity of MS OneNote, and like to organize your folders/notes it could be an excellent tool for you.
Evernote is a tool available on "all" platforms - Windows, Mac OS X, phones and the web. Evernote also supports multiple data types, and is even able to search inside images. All your data is stored online ("in the cloud") to be accessible from any computer or device.
Summary: If you are a "mobile" worker or needs access to your data on many different platforms/devices (and don't mind that your data is stored "in the cloud") Evernote is probably the right tool for you.
PpcSoft iKnow is an easy, fast, efficient tool for knowledge workers using MS Windows. PpcSoft iKnow is optimized for text, and more focused on personal knowledge management than simple note-taking (not only storing notes, but automatically linking notes to quickly find related information similar to (but easier than) Wikipedia).
Summary: If you are working primarily with MS Windows and want a fast, easy-to-use and efficient productivity tool, PpcSoft iKnow could be an excellent tool for you.
