Wanted: Reviewers

P.S.
I am Norwegian, so English is not my native language. You should therefore expect both grammaricious errors, punct.uati.on and speling errors :-)

Quality and Bugs

If you have ever been annoyed by bugs in Microsoft Office, take a look at this article: Why doesn't Office just fix all of the bugs before they ship it ?

The first and most obvious reason for bugs: "We don’t find them all"

"Trying to avoid disaster is another reason our products ship with bugs. That may seem counterintuitive but to put it bluntly, due to the reality of regressions, if we were to fix every bug we found we would never ship."

This is true for PpcSoft as well, but contradicts our philosophy:
"We want to create high-quality software that improves your life !"

We are now at a point where all known bugs have been found and fixed, but we still know that there are hidden bugs lurking around somewhere - we just can't find them.

Given a few more months we would probably have found a couple of more bugs, but releasing it 'into the wild' will make any bugs appear much, much faster.

We believe PpcSoft iKnow at this point is a high-quality product that will help a lot of people manage information overload and become more productive. And I believe that most of you will never find a single bug (but for those of you that do - please report them to us so that we can fix them if necessary).

Software licensing

Kas Thomas points out in the article It's time for seat-based software licensing to end that per-seat licensing is a complication. He asks why this licensing still exist, and answers it himself by not giving an answer to the problem.

"Demand simpler terms. You're the customer, after all" he says. But what would those simpler terms be, you ask ? Good question, with no easy answer. That's why we still have seat-based licensing, named users and concurrent users for most software.

His concerns are valid - seat-based licensing is not always the best answer. Especially for software that is used sparingly by different people at different times.

PpcSoft iKnow licensing

We have tried to make the licensing as simple as possible for our users.

- License per user (work desktop, laptop and home computer allowed per license)
- License Owner can be organization (named users not required)
- One Owner and one registration code for all users in organization allowed
- Easy deployment with one common registration code for all users
- Easy to transfer license to a different employee (with no named users)

iKnow is a productivity tool that will become more useful as you use it more. It is a tool meant for daily use (and probably used many times a day).

We have chosen a very simple licensing system to benefit our customers. This also means that it is easier to misuse, but we trust our customers and choose simplicity and convenience for our customers.
