A great reminder why a KM system can help you from Rajesh Setty:
Why some smart people don't help other people?
1. Smart people are also human beings. They cannot scale
2. It's not just "five minutes"
3. 1-1 help requests put a dent on leverage
4. Your request may have gotten just the attention it truly deserves
5. Dig your well before you are thirsty
6. What is meaningful to you need not be meaningful to them
Sharing your knowledge in a KM system may reduce your "1-1 help requests" and help more people too ! See The value of knowledge for tips on which knowledge you should share in a KM system.
Check out the article Why some smart people don't help other people? for more details.

PpcSoft iKnow is a tool designed for Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7.
However, to avoid lock-in we have created a simple, text-based dataformat that can be viewed and edited in any standard text-editor on any platform.
In addition, thanks to the wonders of virtualization you can run PpcSoft iKnow in other OS'es using virtualization software like VMWare.

Found an interesting chart over the Social Landscape at TheNextWeb...
This was attributed to Drew McLellan, who attributed it to Gavin Heaton, who linked back to the original source at CMO.
But the actual article was at this page.
And even that wasn't the real source, as CMO.com actually asked 97th Floor, a SEO and social media firm for this :-) !
A PDF is also available for download (at the bottom of the page).
Anyway, the chart is very interesting regarding The Social Landscape, and I also found the "search" for the original source interesting...I think it is important to give credit where credit is due - my thanks go to CMO and 97th Floor :-)

We're proud to present the new PpcSoft iKnow 2009 Home edition.
For business users we already offer a Standard and Professional edition, and we also offer a 100% free Lite edition for personal, non-commercial use.
However, we've received many requests for a more powerful edition than the Lite editon, but at the same time more affordable than the Standard and Professional edition. The new Home edition is our answer for power users.
While the free Lite edition offers max. 100 notes and no support, the Home edition offers max. 500 notes and 1 month of free priority support and upgrades.
In these tough economic times, we're very happy to offer a powerful yet affordable application that will hopefully help a lot of people manage all their information and reduce their information overload.
The Home edition is available for only $29 US for personal, non-commercial use.
See the press release or go to the download page for more details.
