(1) wash hands with soap
(2) clean patient’s skin with chlorhexidine antiseptic
(3) put sterile drapes over the entire patient
(4) wear sterile mask, hat, gown, and gloves
(5) put sterile dressing over the catheter site once the line is in.
Record:
- Weight and allergies on MR 52 and MR 17B medication and anaesthetic chart
- Baseline TPR, BP and O2 saturations on MR 77 observations chart
- Bilateral baseline limb observations on MR 62 B
- Time of fasting on MR 17B
Ensure X-rays are on ward if applicable
Nil orally
Unit orientation
Explain peri-operative procedures
