The most important goal for PpcSoft iKnow is not helping you write things down and collect stuff (even if that is very important too):
The most important goal is that you find what you're looking for when you need it !
Writing things down is an important prerequisite, but if you can't find it again later it's a waste. So when you are evaluating different tools, don't focus too much on "the writing things down" part, but rather on how easy and quickly it is to find it again.
"Virtual assistants"
A pragmatic is concerned with making decisions and actions that are useful in practice, not just in theory. PpcSoft iKnow is a pragmatic application for pragmatic people - we don't care if something sounds great in theory if it doesn't work in practice.
PpcSoft iKnow cannot do everything: you cannot dump all kinds of documents into iKnow (but you can link to them), and you cannot store audio clips or video snippets from YouTube etc (yes, this is intentional to avoid information overload).
What you can store is important information that you might need later, and we'll organize and connect related information for you automatically so that it is as easy and fast as possible to find again later (much faster than "humanly" possible).
It's almost like having two personal assistants helping you whenever you need them - one will find your notes instantly and the other will find all related notes.
Pen and paper is maybe the easiest, quickest and most flexible tool for writing things down - but what about finding some notes you wrote 2-3 weeks ago (or was it 2-3 months ago) ? Or finding the one note you need among the 293 notes you have written ? Suddenly the pen and paper isn't that useful anymore.
